Kathmandu, May 31 Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs’ Supreme Federation (NNTESF) will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Tuesday. It has urged the government to form a taskforce along with participation of NNTSEF representatives for traffic management. The federation urged for forming a control mechanism to reduce road accidents. “The state should be held responsible for the insurance facility and its proper management,” said Bishnu Siwakoti, president of NNTESF. Siwakoti also said, “To increase competition in transport service operations, transporters should be provided with transport route permits immediately.” The federation has also demanded the government grant it some percentage of discount in the revenue that the transporters pay to the government in order to compensate transporters who give students concession. “The student card discount must be made more scientific and transparent for its effective implementation,” Siwakoti said adding that damage to public vehicles during road protest programmes should be compensated by the government. “A Transport Development Board should be formed so that the problems faced by the transport sector can be identified and addressed,” said Siwakoti.
