KATHMANDU: Ritu-XI defeated Nary-XI by three wickets in the Women’s Twenty20 practice match here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Saturday Batting first, Nary-XI were all out for 97 runs in the last ball of their innings. Rekha Rawal hit three boundaries to top score with 28-ball 26 for Nary-XI. Neera Rajopadhyaya also contributed 14 and Manisha Rawal 12. Skipper Ritu Kanojiya, Sarita Magar and Janaki Bhatta claimed two wickets apiece while Keshari Chaudhary and Rubina Chhetri took one wicket each for Ritu-XI. In reply, Ritu-XI overcame the 98-run target in the last ball of their innings. Skipper Ritu played a match winning knock of 20 unbeaten runs. Player of the match Ritu struck a four in her 21-ball innings. Sarita Magar top scored with a fluent 23 off 20 balls, hitting three fours while Maya Rawat made 33-ball 22. Khina Thapa Magar took 2-13 while skipper Nary Thapa Magar, Rekha Rawal, Rashmi Sharma and Sonu Khadka took one wicket each for the Nary-XI. Ritu-XI also won the first match on Saturday. The matches were played as part of Nepal’s preparation for the ACC Women’s Twenty20 Cricket Tournament slated for Malaysia from June 1-13. The two teams were formed from the 24 players in the closed camp. The final 14 and four reserve players will be selected as per the players’ performance in these two matches and the camp.
