KATHMANDU: Seventy players are vying for the third Madan Memorial National Youth Rating Chess Tournament beginning here from Saturday. Of the total number of participants, 61 are the rated players, said the Democratic National Youth Association here at a press meet on Thursday. The six-day event will be played under Swiss League format, said the organisers. Players will vie for the championships in U-19 (boy and girl), U-15 (boy and girl) and veterans' sections. Top three players will get Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Others finishing at the top 20 will also receive their shares of prizes. Winners in the unrated and youth sections will also be awarded.
