KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today issued show cause notices to the government authorities over the discrimination of HIV infected students from various schools. A single bench of Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha issued the order following today’s hearing responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a group of organisations including Nepal Environmental Lawyers Forum (NELA). The bench told the government authorities- the PM’s Office, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Home and Ministry of Education-demanding reasons for discriminations within 15 days. Stating that there are around 15000 HIV infected students who have been facing discriminations, the PIL sought the apex court intervention into it.
