KATHMANDU: Nepali golfers dropped one spot down to 16 after the second round of the Nomura Cup 24th Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship held at the Namseoul Country Club in South Korea today. Nepali team of Rupak Acharya, Wangchen Dhondop, Tashi Tsering and Tashi Ghale carded a total of 246 today. As only best three scores will account for the total, veteran Ghale (91), who scored 86 in the first round, again failed to chip in for the team. Acharya improved on his first round score of 80 and carded 76 today while Dhondop scored 84 to that of the 79 of the first round. Likewise, Tsering had a card of 86, two stroke more than the previous day. The Nepali golfers were 15th overall at 243 in the first round, three shots better than Bangladesh. But the Bangladeshi golfers replaced them with the second round card of 228. Nepal had an overall card of 489 after the second round, 64 shots behind the leaders South Korea. In all, 21 teams are participating in the tournament. Acharya is the best among the Nepali golfers in the individual standings. Acharya is among the eight tied for the 35th while Dhondop is tied for the 57th with an Australian golfer. Likewise, Tsering lies in the 69th and Ghale 74th position in the 84-man field.
