LONDON: Pushing Daisies star Kristin Chenoweth fought back tears after her bittersweet Emmy win on Sunday (20Sep09) as she begged the star-studded crowd for work in wake of the comedy's cancellation. Chenoweth's show was among a list of series axed this year (09) by bosses at U.S. network ABC. Christina Applegate's Samantha Who?, Life on Mars and Dirty Sexy Money were also cancelled by TV chiefs. And after accepting the prize for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy - beating fellow nominees Amy Poehler, Jane Krakowski, Elizabeth Perkins, Kristen Wiig and Vanessa Williams - Chenoweth used her moment in the spotlight to audition for a new role. She told the audience, "I don't know why I'm crying. I'm unemployed now, so I'd like to be on Mad Men. I also like The Office, 24 - Hello (30 Rock star) Alec (Baldwin)... Thank you so much to the Academy for recognising a show that's no longer on the air."
