Migrant camp razed CALAIS: French police have moved in to dismantle a makeshift camp set up by migrants near the port of Calais on Tuesday. French officials said 278 migrants had been held in the operation at the camp known as “the jungle”. More than 1,000 were thought to have already left. Rights protesters scuffled with police and some arrests were reported. UK Home Secretary Alan Johnson said reports Britain would be forced to take some of the migrants were wrong. — Agencies Zelaya returns home TEGUCIGALPA: Honduran security forces are breaking up demonstrations in favour of deposed President Manuel Zelaya outside the Brazilian embassy where he has taken shelter. Security Department spokesman Orlin Cerrato says the area around the embassy is under control of authorities as of Tuesday morning. There is no immediate word on any arrests or injuries. Thousands of Zelaya supporters defied a curfew to spend the night around the embassy celebrating Zelaya’s return to Honduras. — AP Bus accident: 5 dead BERLIN: Five people were killed in a bus accident in western Germany on Tuesday. One person was seriously injured and another seven were also hurt in the crash on Tuesday at Radevormwald, east of Duesseldorf. About 15 people were on the bus. The bus was on a regular local route. — AP
