MOSCOW: George Du Rand of South Africa set a new world record in the men’s 200-metre backstroke, timing 1min 47.08sec at the FINA World Cup stage here on Saturday. Du Rand beat the previous world record mark of 1:47.84, established by Austria’s Markus Rogan on April 13, 2008 in Manchester.
