Maoist cadre killed in road accident

TANAHUN: One person was killed while 54 others injured when a bus carrying UCPN-Maoist cadres to Kathmandu from Gorkha district met with an accident near Marsyangdi Hydro Power Station in Aanbukhaireni last night. Suresh Tamu, a resident of Gorkha's Kerabari VDC, died in course of treatment at Janamaitri Hospital in Kathmandu. The bus veered off the road at 15 minutes past midnight, according to District Police Office Tanahun. According to Dipak Koirala, secretary, Rastriya Janaandolan Committee of the Tamuwan State, 54 activists were injured in the accident. Forty-nine of them are undergoing treatment in Janamaitri and Bir hospitals in Kathmandu while two others are receiving care at Bharatpur Medical College. Three returned home after receiving first aid in Aanbukhaireni. The speeding bus had fallen some 50 metres down the road.
