Dang, April 21:
A team of journalists from the Federation of Nepali Journalists and South Asia Free Media Association today arrived in Dang to assess the problems faced by mediapersons in the mid-west region. The visiting journalists included SAFMA-Nepal chief Gopal Thapaliya, senior journalist Purushottam Dahal, editor of the Budhabar weekly Surya Thapa and journalist Balram Baniya. Speaking at a programme, FNJ chairman Tara Nath Dahal accused the government of launching an indirect attack on media. SAFMA-Nepal chief Thapaliya said right to information is the basic right of the people. Narayan Prasad Sharma, editor of Naya Yugbodh, a local daily, said they were facing immense psychological pressure from the authorities. The team interacted with local editors, FM radio station managers and news readers.
