While tackling two stories side-by-side, maintaining a balance is not an easy job for a director. And though Rensil D’Silva has tried, in some ways he has failed to maintain the balance. The flow of the movie is a bit disturbed by certain not-so-relevant sequences. Avantika, a professor at a university in Delhi, had to come back from New York after her father suffered a heart attack. She falls in love with her colleague Ehsaan Khan. One day, Avantika receives a call from her university in New York asking her to return. So they get married and migrate to New York. The in-love couple begin a new life in US and settle in an Indian neighbourhood there. No sooner do they set up home there, their conservative Muslim neighbours invite them for dinner. The next morning, Salma (Nauheed Cyrusi), the woman Avantika had met the previous night at the dinner, visits her and tells her that she is in grave danger. Salma begs Avantika to convey to her journalist friend (Diya Mirza) that she is in danger. Avantika does this for Salma but before her friend can make an attempt to save her, the friend dies in a suicide plane crash. Losing his lover in the plane crash, a disheartened Reeyaz (Vivek Oberoi) starts searching for those responsible. The movie then revolves more on the terrorist plot with the love story being sidetracked. Rather than just entertainment, this movie talks about a grave issue like terrorism. Senior actors like Om Puri and Kirron Kher have given outstanding performances, and it’s they who remain in the viewer’s mind even after the movie ends. As for the lead pair, both Saif and Kareena have done commendable job. Though few in number, the well integrated music is an asset of the movie. Action is not worth mentioning while the background score and cinematography is just fine.
