KATHMANDU: The Winterfest 2009 is on at the NLIC City Centre. A fun-filled event for people of all age groups, this Winterfest is indeed the talk of town. This fest started on November 26, which will last till November 29, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There are a lot of attractions from mehendi, instant tattooing, children’s rocking chairs, distorted mirror walk, MC games, lucky draw to band baaja, just to add more fun and sound to the event. Different programmes are scheduled for different days. Instant photographs with cartoon characters are the highlight of the festival. Games like bingo left people wanting to play more. Mannsi Agarwal, Manager of centre, said, “It’s four days of entertainment, activities and fun to attract people of all age groups to the mall, and leave them with a memorable experience. The idea is basically to increase the foothold of the centre with the expectance of approximately 20,000 people and more.” Dance workshop, performance by Kalash band, B Boy performance and beat box are among the events that are taking place. Ekta Mool and Raina Pradhan from Lazimpat shared, “It’s very exciting and a fun event, a different approach unlike other malls. We have come here for some shopping as well as to enjoy the event.” For them “the cartoon characters and the band baaja” were very interesting. At the play zone area, eight-year-old Sayun Tamrakar who had come with his parents from Bhaktapur said, “I really liked the rocking chairs, funny faces on the distorted mirror walk and taking photos with the cartoon characters.” His mother Sunita Tamrakar shared, “It is pretty exciting here, a thing that we don’t quite often witness in Nepal. This visit was especially a treat for my son. After the 4D film, our plan is to go shopping.” There are special food stalls, discount offers and lots of prizes from the stores and sponsors for the visitors.
