LOS ANGELES: Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and Hayden Panettiere will pay tribute to philanthropic teens in a new awards ceremony honouring youth charity work. The stars, along with basketball ace LeBron James, will each give praise to a big-hearted teenager who has made a difference in their communities at the inaugural Teen Nick Halo Awards. The celebrities have been paired up with the teens based on their own charity interests: Keys will present an award to a person involved in an AIDS education organisation; animal rights activist Panettiere will work with a volunteer for an ocean research advocacy group; Timberlake with the founder of a scoliosis education support group, and James with a community improvement project worker to keep teens away from drugs and gangs. The awards are the brainchild of Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon, who serves as the chairman of Nickelodeon's TeenNick network. He says, "One person can make a difference, and it's my hope that this special will encourage ongoing activism and inspire a new generation of leaders." The first-ever prizegiving will air on U.S. TV's TeenNick on 11 December (09).
