BHADRAPUR: The seventh National Surgical Conference of Society of Surgeon Nepal that kicked off here today urged for special arrangement of sustainable professional security for medics in the country. Around 180 surgeons would make presentations in the two-day conference at College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur. Addressing an inauguration session, Professor Suresh Raj Sharma, vice-chancellor Kathmandu University (KU) expressed deep concern about all pervasive interference and worsening security situation in educational institutions and appealed all not to shun politics in education sector. Sharma, however, boasted that Nepal was producing a large number of surgeons within the country. Meanwhile, Dr Nataraj Prasad, patron of the conference said that private medical institutions were pivotal in the development of medical sector. He viewed that larger gathering of surgeons would find the way-out of the challenges in the field of medical surgery. He hoped that the crucial issues would be raised during the conference. "The conference will help us share knowledge and experience,” said Dr Prasad. Dr N B Rana, dean KU urged for professional security as the health professionals were working for the public. Dr Nagendra Pampatti, Dr Bhola Raj Joshi, Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha, Dr G. Subramanyam, Dr Aman Agrawal and Dr Sujit Kumar aired their views on development of medical education in Nepal.
