KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist today objected to the Cabinet observation that the Maoists had violated the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The party is also irked by the government’s failure to address the Kailali incident, as agreed with its leadership.
The meeting of the central office bearers of the party, held at chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Naya Bazaar, today refuted the cabinet decision.
Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the meeting had decided to oppose the cabinet decision and discuss the issue with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. “The decision has violated the agreement made by PM Nepal with chairman Prachanda, regarding the Kailali incident,” he said. UCPN-M has also decided to resolve the conflict over the boundaries of various autonomous states.
Despite protests from various quarters, Shrestha said the meeting decided to go ahead with the plan of declaring autonomous states.
