Nepal Teachers’ Association today announced the election of its body during the fifth national convention organised from April 24 to 27. Mohan Gyawali, was elected the NTA president along with 28 members. The NTA elected six vice-presidents with Bishnu Prasad Adhikary as senior vice-president. Birendra Prakash Shrestha and Bidur Khadka were elected general secretary and secretary respectively with 16 members from various regions. Gyawali said that the convention calls for the government to give top priority to education and all the teachers would work towards sustainable development of education. The teachers would encourage all the concerned parties to fight against poverty and achieve the Education for All and millennium development goals. The teachers’ association would work towards enhancing information and technology in eduction. The teachers’ association would fight against the government’s policy of handing school management to the communities as it would make the government less responsible.
