Four teenagers held KATHMANDU: The Police on Saturday arrested four in Chapali Bhadrakali- 6, Kathmandu for an alleged involvement in illegal activities. According to the police, the arrests were made from a house belonging to Bhuwan Thapa in the area. The arrested teenagers, who were caught smoking cannabis, have been identified as Santosh Thakuri, Pemba Sherpa, Saroj Khadka and Bhuwan Thapa. "Thapa is a drug peddler. Investigation into the case is in progress," said the local police. NMA's plea to Maoists KATHMANDU: Nepal Medical Association (NMA) on Sunday appealed Unified CPN-M and its cadres to create an environment for smooth operation of the vehicles of press, medical institutions, diplomatic missions and human rights organisations during the general strike. Hospital flays attack KATHMANDU: Martyr Gangalal National Heart Centre on Sunday expressed serious concerns toward the attack on one of its vehicles ferrying its employees at Gaushala. A press statement issued by the centre stated that the employees of the hospital were assaulted by protesters. Meanwhile, it condemned the act and appealed the protesters not to attack employees, who are assigned for the treatment of heart patients. Assistance for journo KATHMANDU: Reporters' Club on Sunday pledged a financial support to Bindu Pariyar, a journalist suffering from blood cancer. Pariyar is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu. Rishi Dhamala has donated Rs 15,000 and has appealed others to chip in. Meanwhile, Maoist leader Janardan Sharma 'Prabhakar' and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak have each promised Rs 2,000 for her treatment. Pariyar has been suffering from cancer for the last five years. Doctors have said that it would cost Rs 2, 50,000 a month for her treatment. 731 vehicles penalised Kathmandu: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) on Saturday impounded 731 vehicles for violating traffic rules. According to MTPD, the offenses range from drunken-driving, overloading the vehicles with passengers to crossing in red lights. The traffic police have impounded 380 driving licenses, 229 blue books and 122 road permits for further investigation. Defaulters could be fined Rs 200 to Rs 5,000, police said.
