12 fuel tankers dispatched to Kathmandu from Kakarbhitta
KAKADBHITTA: As many as 12 fuel tankers have been dispatched to Kathmandu, which is reeling under acute shortage of petroleum products, from the Kakarbhitta customs point of Jhapa in eastern Nepal on Wednesday.
According to the Deputy Chief District Officer, Kamal Thapa, eight of the tankers are ferrying diesel and four petrol.
A total of 34 fuel tankers had entered Nepal from the Indian side yesterday night and one in the morning.
The local administration has provided security personnel to escort the tankers to the Capital.
Thapa informed that five tankers have been sent to Biratnagar and three to Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung.
The remaining 15 tankers are for Jhapa district, according to Laya Bhandari of Mechi Petroleum Entrepreneurs Association.
He informed that supply of petroleum products in Jhapa has eased from today.
