‘Emphasise on economic agenda’

Kathmandu, March 13:

Economic agenda should get equal priority, speakers at an interaction programme organised by Reporters’ Club here today said.

“Some parties are behaving as if economic growth is not important,” finance minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said, adding that national production should increase and more job opportunities should be created. Stressing growth with equity is vital for the prosperous Nepal, he said that the government is yet to finalise the issue of industrial security force.

“Agriculture, Tourism, Hydropower and foreign investment are some of the common agendas of the political parties,” Prof Dr Bishwambher Pyakurel, a prominent economist, said adding that the agendas needs to be implemented.

“Government should bring an Act for top five priority areas for the sustainable development,” he suggested.

“After CA polls, economic agendas should get priority,” Radhesh Pant, president of Nepal Bankers’ Association said. Similarly, Dr Shanker Sharma, former vice-chairman of NPC, led stress on taking benefit from India and China.
