Agriculture production up in Dang

Tulsipur, May 16:

Production of major crops in Dang district increased this year in comparison to last year, said district agriculture development office.

According to the office, production of rice increased by 21 per cent, mustard by 10 per cent, maize by 4.23 per cent, wheat by 1.5 per cent, chickpea by 15.35 per cent, pea by 6.66 per cent and lentil by 1.12 per cent.

Timely rainfall, use of improved seeds and use of proper fertilizer were the reasons for the rise in production, the office said.

This year 49,058 metric tonnes of rice was produced from 38,220 hectares of land. Likewise 26,056 tonnes of wheat was produced from 12,400 hectares of land, 64,000 tonnes of maize from 26,600 ha and 24,817 tonnes of lentil was produced from 27,575 hectares of land.

Likewise, the district produced 367 tonnes of chickpea, 288 tonnes of pea and 12,031.5 tonnes of mustard.
