Airline operators offer 10 pc festive discount

Kathmandu, September 15

The Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has launched a discount offer targeting the upcoming festivals — Dashain and Tihar. Issuing a press statement today, AOAN has announced it will provide 10 per cent discount on airfare during this festive season. The scheme will be valid between September 29 and November 3.

As per AOAN, it has brought the discount offer this festive season to provide some relief to passengers. However, the discount is not applicable to airport tax and fuel surcharge amount.

Meanwhile, to avail this discount passengers have to purchase their tickets from the ticket counters of the concerned airline companies. The discount is not available for tickets purchased from general sales agents of the airline companies, as stated in the statement released by the AOAN.

With this discount offer, AOAN expects to provide affordable travel to its passengers during the festive season. The discount will be provided to Nepali

passengers only. No discounts have been offered for foreign passengers.

The offer is only available through the member airline companies of AOAN. The discount scheme is available on purchase of air tickets of Buddha Air, Saurya Airlines, Sita Air, Summit Air, Yeti Airlines, Simrik Airlines and Tara Air.

According to the airline operators, advance booking of air tickets has been rising as Dashain is nearing. While the airline operators have announced to provide 10 per cent discount on airfare, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is preparing to provide 50 per cent discount on airfare for passengers above 70 years.

Recently, the ministry formed a taskforce to conduct a feasibility study to provide 50 per cent discount on airfare to senior citizens.
