Manila, June 4:

Energy officials from ASEAN and its Pacific rim trading partners will meet in the Philippines next week to discuss energy security amid record-high oil prices, the energy department said on Friday. Details of the meeting are being kept confidential amid tight security surrounding the June 7-11 gathering.

Senior energy officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) start the first meeting on June 7, followed on June 9 by a meeting of ASEAN energy ministers, the energy department said. Energy ministers from China, Japan and South Korea will attend on June 9, followed by a two-day meeting of energy ministers of APEC.
