Nilhari Bastola has been elected the president of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN).
In the 44th annual meeting of TAAN held on Monday, Bastola secured 616 votes to clinch the TAAN presidency as against the 264 votes by his contender Ram Prasad Sapkota, according to the TAAN election committee.
The newly-elected TAAN President Bastola, speaking after his win, said he would prioritise implementing the 20-point memorandum he had presented during the election campaign and collaboration between the private and government for the revival of COVID-battered tourism sector.
Bastola also pledged to address the problems faced by trekking agency entrepreneurs by making the services timely and efficient.
Meanwhile, Krishna Prasad Dahal was elected senior vice-president (504 votes), Pradeep Pandit first vice-president (552 votes), Dhan Bahadur Gurung second vice-president (598 votes), Binod Sapkota general secretary (544 votes), Hom Nath Bhattarai secretary (503 votes), Purushottam Timilsina treasurer (488 votes) and Tshering Dorje Sherpa joint treasurer (716 votes) of the new executive committee of TAAN.
Similarly, Sajana Tripathi has been elected woman member, while Ram Prasad Banjara, Raju Aryal, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, Kumar Lama, Nabinath Devkota, Subash Bhandari, Lakpa Dorje Sherpa and Krishna Bahadur Pariyar elected independent members of TAAN.
