Myanmar’s inflation

YANGON: A Myanmar newsweekly reported the country’s inflation rate at 10 per cent for the 2005 fiscal year ending March 31 — far lower than the 53 per cent calculated by the UN’s regional economic organisation. A senior official from the ministry of finance and revenue said inflation figures from the Myanmar government and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific differed because of the varying methods of calculation. — AP
