FNCCI team in India
KATHMANDU: A delegation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) led by its president left for Delhi today to discuss the Nepal-India Transit Treaty. According to a press statement issued by the FNCCI today, included in the delegation are first-vice president of FNCCI Diwakar Golchha, director general Badri Prasad Ojha chiefs and major export-based industrialists. Representatives of the Nepali private sector are scheduled to hold talks with the secretaries of Indian government and concerned ministers, said FNCCI. — HNS
Herbs face extinction
RAMECHHAP: Important herbs found in abundance in different mountainous forests of Ramechhap District have reached the brink of extinction for want of proper identification and preservation. More than 200 species of herbs, that can be used in the production of different sorts of Ayurvedic and allopathic medicines, are found in the jungles of Ramechhap, according to Rakesh Karna of the District Forest Office. Government apathy and lack of scientific investigations and awareness is the main cause that different types of invaluable herbs are about to disappear from the country, said local Bharat Bhandari. — RSS
Gold business down
DAMAULI: Transaction in gold and silver has dwindled by about 75 per cent in Tanahu District following a hike in the bullion prices for the last few months. ‘’The ongoing conflict in the country is another reason for the limping market of gold and silver,’’ Tanahu chairman of the Gold and Silver Entrepreneur’s Association Keshar Bahadur Sunar said. Some goldsmiths from the district have been displaced from their occupation owing to the slack in gold and silver business. — RSS
