CNI holds meeting

KATHMANDU: With an aim to solve the contemporary problems of industrial sector, organisations affiliated with Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) held a meeting on Thursday and decided to form a working committee, according to a press release. Binod Chaudhary, president of CNI chaired the meeting where Rajendra Kumar Khetan, Atma Ram Murarka, Narendra Kumar Basnyat, Tek Chandra Pokharel, Chrinji Lal Agrawal, Madhav Adhikary, C M Uprety, Azaz Aalam, Dambar Dev Aryal, Babu Ram Panday, Ganesh Unchai, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Mohan Bahadur Katuwal, Hitler Biset and Suman Suwal also took part. — HNS

Insurance premium

KATHMANDU: United Insurance Company Ltd (UICL) has increased its insurance premium by 25.51 per cent to Rs 114 million in the fiscal year 2004-05 in comparison to last year, according to a statement. UICL held its 12th AGM in the capital, where it announced Rs 15.4 million profit in 2004-05. It has also registered a hike in its investment by 29.18 per cent amounting to Rs 143 million in 2004-05. — HNS

ICICI Bank in Lanka

COLOMBO: India’s ICICI Bank began operations in Sri Lanka with an eye on the lucrative inward remittance market and booming bilateral trade. The bank hoped to corner a slice of the growing base of Indian corporate customers operating in the island and Sri Lankan companies doing business with Indian firms. — AFP
