Take diplomatic approach

KATHMANDU: Delegates from Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) held a discussion on business and commerce activities and barriers in economic development under the current scenario with Bharat Bahadur Thapa, secretary at ministry of industry commerce and supply. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of NCC, said that the government needs to work with the private sector to make supplies work more effectively. Shrestha stressed on the need of diversification of the export and import market and urged the government for diplomatic approach in encouraging foreign employment. — HNS

‘Better TIA management’

KATHMANDU: The ministry for culture, tourism and civil aviation has instructed the civil aviation authority to install one more x-ray machine for security check at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Similarly, the ministry has directed the authority to place taxi fares in both Nepali and English for cabs operating in and around the national and international terminals. The ministry has issued such directives to ensure efficient services to people. — RSS

Pokhara festival in offing

POKHARA: Pokhara Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Committee is going to organise a Fewa Festival to mark the new year 2062 from April 12. The three day long festival is expected to help promote tourism in Pokhara. A special package of two nights and three days stay in Pokhara at the rate of Rs 300 per person and Rs 500 per couple is also being marketed to make the festival a success. Food festivals and exhibition of trade products, information technology and materials related to activities of different organisations will be held at the festival. — RSS

Illegal timber confiscated

BHARATPUR: Barandavar Forest Users Committee has confiscated timber worth about Rs 100,000 from a local saw mill. The timber brought to the Bhujel and Brothers Saw Mill was confiscated on Wednesday. The Royal Chitwan National Park and the district forest office have been requested to take necessary actions against smugglers and for the management of the confiscated timber. — RSS
