Rana leaves for Paris:

KATHMANDU: A three-member delegation led by Madhukar Shumsher JB Rana, minister for finance, left for Paris to participate in the second high-level conference on enhancing the effectiveness of development assistance. The conference is scheduled to begin on February 28. It will review the declaration of the first meeting held in Rome in 2003 and will also discuss in enhancing the capacity of the developing countries for making the development assistance effective. — RSS

IMF to continue help:

KATHMANDU: The international donor organisations providing assistance to Nepal have not suspended economic aid to Nepal. The country representative of the IMF on Saturday expressed the commitment that the IMF assistance to Nepal would be continued until Nepal carried on with the economic reforms programmes. — RSS

Lemon cultivation:

RAMECHHAP: Farmers in Ramechhap have taken commercial lemon cultivation as more profit can be generated in comparison to the cultivation of orange and lime. Pradip Shrestha, a farmer said that they could make net profit of Rs 100,000 in a year by selling lemon produced from 50 trees. The district agricultural development office has been providing lemon saplings to the farmers at subsidized price. — RSS

Goods confiscated:

KATHMANDU: The armed police force customs revenue patrol, Kakarbhitta has confiscated smuggled goods that include clothes, motor parts and fertilisers valued around Rs 133,920 and handed over to the Mechi Customs Office. An APF team on patrol seized these goods on the East-West Highway on Friday. — RSS
