Hike sugarcane price’
BIRATNAGAR: Sugarcane farmers are worried because there is no proportional increment in the price of sugarcane vis-a-vis the price of sugar. Farmers, who have formed a pressure committee for the reasonable price increment of sugarcane, have charged the industrialists of cheating the government and farmers. They have demanded that price of sugarcane be increased up to Rs 216 per quintal from the present rate of Rs 146 per quintal. — RSS
Tourist guides get training:
BHARATPUR: A 12-day refreshment training for social mobilisers and tourist guides concluded in Chitwan on Sunday under the auspices of Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme (TRPAP) training unit, Kathmandu. Forty-two participants were trained on the management of garbage, gender mainstreaming, social mobilisation, leadership development and the like.— RSS
Power extension in 7 VDCs:
MYAGDI: Extension of the electricity in seven VDCs of Myagdi district is to start this year. Dinanath Dahal, an executive of the Tatopani Small Hydro-Power Project, said the VDCs to be covered are Dana, Dhoba, Sim, Patkhel, Singa, Jamrukkot and Athungo. He added the centre has sent Rs 1,600,000 to construct the projects and Rs 400,000 for a public participation programme. He also added that the money sent by the centre is not enough to extend the electricity supply. He informed that 3,300 volts capacity high-tension lines will be distributed in the VDCs. — RSS
