BoK’s new ATM

KATHMANDU: Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has opened new ATM counters at its Chabahil branch. Evening counters are also operated at the Chabahil branchth the customers need. Till date BoK has 31 ATM counters within the country. Earlier, the bank opened its ATM counter at Chuchepati of Chabahil. — HNS

Nokia sues Apple

LONDON: Nokia has filed a complaint against Apple with the Federal District Court in Delaware, alleging that Apple’s iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and WLAN standards. The patents cover mobile/wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models since the iPhone was introduced in 2007. — Agencies

Route reopens

MYAGDI: Vehicular movement on the Beni- Jomsom route that was disrupted for the last four months due to landslides resumed from Friday. The road was repaired and cleared by transport entrepreneurs and Nepal Army, said Maygdi jeeps and microbuses entrepreneurs’ committee secretary Suraj KC. Transport entrepreneurs of Myagdi and Mustang have agreed to operate four vehicles daily from each district. As per the agreement, the vehicles will leave between 7:00 am and noon regularly from both districts. — RSS

Gravity ropeway

SYANGJA: A non-electric gravity ropeway has been installed in Chhanchhangdi VDC of Syangja to transport agriculture produce to markets. The ropeway has been installed in between the agriculture market at Triyasy of Waling Municipality and Mansangkot of the VDC. The regional agriculture directorate provided Rs 1.6 million, the VDC provided Rs 100,000 and locals contributed labour worth Rs 320,000 for the ropeway. — RSS
