Power project benefits

BABIYACHAUR: People in Barangja VDC of Myagdi have been benefited after local Bhorleni Khola hydroelectricity project started producing power. The project has started generating 7-megawatts of power. Sixty-eight households in Barangja VDC have been benefited from the project. The Bhorlenikhola Hydropower Centre was constructed at a total cost of Rs 2,933,400. The construction cost was shared by Barangja VDC, CRC Company and locals. The consumers collected Rs 18,000 per household for the cost of the project and 70 youths from the VDC contributed their voluntary labour for the construction of the hydropower centre. — RSS

Flood destroys paddy

SURKHET: Flood destroyed paddy planted on hundreds of bighas of land around Simta area of Surkhet triggered by incessant rainfall from Monday. Farmers have been badly affected after the paddy — that is ready for reaping in hundreds of Bighas of land — was destroyed in Pipalkhet, Kalakhar, Mangaligade, Sanikhet, Tamaghari. Flood on Alikhola and Khanikhola destroyed paddy planted on various other parts, too. — RSS

Herbs farming

HETAUDA: A government hospital in Hetaunda has started herbs farming on its land. The Zonal Ayurvedic Hospital at Hetaunda Municipality-2 has grown medicinal herbs on two katthas of land inside its compound. Medical officer Baikuntha Acharya said the hospital plans to produce herbal medicines itself. The hospital has so far cultivated 200 plants of different species. — RSS
