Tyre factory shut

GORKHA: Operation of the country’’s only tyre factory — Gorakhkali Rubber Factory — has come to a halt since Thursday. Demanding government-fixed wages and facilities, workers have halted production in the plant that employs 371 employees. They have also warned they will come up with stronger protests if the factory management fails to fulfill their demands. — RSS

Waaling festival

KATHMANDU: Waaling Western Region Industry, Tourism, Agriculture and Business Fair will be held on January 14-31. According to FNCCI, total transaction during the fair is expected to be around Rs 35 million while the festival will have 200 stalls. — HNS

UFL gives 20pc bonus

KATHMANDU: Union Finance Ltd (UFL) has approved 20 per cent bonus shares — during its 14th annual general meeting on Thursday — from the profit of Rs 91.3 million in the fiscal year 2007-08. It has plans to increase its capital to Rs 160 million within this fiscal year. — HNS
