ICC CEOs’ forum

Kathmandu: A three-member team of ICC Nepal president Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, secretary Rajesh Babu Shrestha and member Rajendra Man Sherchan has left for the ICC regional CEO forum in New Delhi slated for Thursday and Friday. CEOs of different national and international chambers of commerce will participate in the programme. ICC president Victor Fung will address the forum.

Union in Buddha Air

KATHMANDU: Buddha Air’s employee union got a new leadership under the presidency of Ram Prasad Bhusal on Thursday. Other elected members are Babita Manandhar as first vice-president, Chhapannalal Rajbansi as second vice-president, Prakash Kayastha as general secretary, Kamal Lamichhane in Ramesh Prasad Ghimire. Binita Thapa, Baital Bhagat Tharu, Saroj Dutta Pandey, Bhakta Bahadur Basnet, Dinesh KC, Pankaj KC and Ranjana Bhandari have been elected executive members.

Job mart shrinks

KATHMANDU: Malaysia reduced by around 5,00,000 foreign workers in its job market over the last 12 months, Bernama new agency reported. There were two million migrant workers last year. Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S Subramaniam said the reduced number was due to economic factors and also the work permits of some of the foreigners had expired. Dr Subramaniam said so far the government was still allowing workers from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, China, India and Nepal, but only for specific sectors like construction and domestic help.
