HCC-Nepal’s AGM

KATHMANDU: The second AGM of Honorary Consuls and Consul Generals (HCC- Nepal) held on Wednesday unanimously elected Dr Vijaya Gajananda Vaidya as the Dean of HCC-Nepal. He is Honorary Consul General of Philippines. “Rajendra Kumar Khetan representing Portugal as Honorary Consul has been elected vice-dean of HCC- Nepal,” states a press release. The 27 member HCC- Nepal meets on July 23, its annual day. The AGM also congratulated Padma Jyoti of Cyprus and Khetan of Portugal for being nominated member s of Constituent Assembly. — HNS

JBBL operational

KATHMANDU: Jyoti Bikas Bank Ltd (JBBL) started operations from Thursday. “The bank has Rs 740 million authorised capital and Rs 259 million paid up capital,” states a press release. The bank that has 1,125 promoters will float its shares among the public within a year. Pracharman Singh Pradhan is chairman and Jhalak Prasad Khanal is chief executive officer of the bank. — HNS

Industrial census ends

BIRATNAGAR: Industrial census conducted in Jhapa and Morang has revealed there are 457 small and big industries in these two districts. The number of industries has risen slightly from that in the past. Census began last October and ended mid-July this year. It is conducted every five years. The census showed there are 306 industries in Morang and 151 in Jhapa. Only those industries that employ 10 or more workers were included in the census. The Morang statistics office said six persons were deputed to collect data. Information on production costs, raw materials, market management, workers and environmental aspects were rated. — RSS
