NCC discussion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) organised a discussion programme on

‘soaring food prices and management’. NCC member Devendra Bhakta Shrestha presented working paper and recommended the government to reform its economic policy, run social security programme and provide subsidy in agriculture. Businessmen, including NCC president,

Kaligandaki Hydel

MYAGDI: The construction of 100-MW Kaligandaki George Hydroelectricity Project, Nepal’s first hydel project promoted by Nepali engineers and investors affiliated with Hydro Solutions would begin next year, director of the company Gyanendra Lal Pradhan, said, adding that the project would complete by the year 2012. The project will construct a dam in Ghasa of Mustang and bring the water to Ghara of Myagdi through a six-km tunnel to produce 100-MW (650 million units a year) of electricity. The project is estimated to cost Rs 10 billion. — RSS
