NMB adds branch

KATHMANDU: NMB Bank Ltd is opening its eighth branch at Jaljala Rangeli Road in Biratnagar on Sunday. NMB plans to increase its network strength to 12 within this fiscal year, said the 25th commercial bank. The bank has also started online payment for NTC prepaid mobile service and landline phone services. — HNS


Global’s debit card

KATHMANDU: Global Bank is launching Global visa debit card from Sunday. The easy plastic money can be used in over 3,000 stores of Nepal and 3,50,000 stores and point of sales in India, said the bank. “Apart from that, one can withdraw money from 400 ATMs in Nepal and 30,000 ATMs in India.” One can withdraw Rs 1,00,000 and buy things worth up to Rs 2,00,000 in a day, it said. — HNS


Wind energy centre

BABIYACHAUR: The first wind energy centre in Kagbeni VDC of Mustang is wrecked. It established in 2046 BS at a cost of Rs 7 million but the fan broke immediately. The centre was closed after the fan broke, said a local teacher Prem Gautam. — RSS


Oil hits 6-month high

NEW YORK: Oil rose to a six-month high above $66 per barrel on Friday, marking its largest monthly percentage gain in more than a decade, after US, Japanese and Indian data suggested the economic downturn may be easing. Oil prices jumped around 30 per cent this month, the largest monthly rise since March 1999, buoyed by hopes of recovery. — Agencies
