FNCCI condemns
KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has condemned the murder of Shrawan Kumar Shah, a trader of Kalaiya in Bara district. Shah was shot dead by an unidentified gang last Thursday. Issuing a press statement today, FNCCI said the issues raised by the private sector in regards to industrial security have been often neglected, which has led to such heinous act. It has also drawn an attention of the government to take such incident seriously and asked hefty punishment against the culprits. FNCCI further stated that the victims must be compensated. —HNS
Orange farming rise
TANAHUN: Farmers of Tanahun district who are engaged in orange farming are excited as they have been able to sell oranges worth Rs 200 million this year. The orange production has been increased by 90 metric tonnes (MT) compared to last year, and they gained double earnings. The farmers had earned Rs 100 million by producing 5,973 MT of oranges last year, which has been increased to 6,071 MT this year, Planning Officer at Agriculture Development Office Basudev Kafle said. Oranges produced in Tanahun are considered to be high quality and around 90 per cent of them were supplied to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Hetauda, Narayangarh among other places. Recently, around 1,000 hectares of land has been used for orange farming in Tanahun. —RSS
