Gold price drops

KATHMANDU: The price of gold in the domestic market fell by Rs 190 on the last day of the week to Rs 15,410 per 10 gram from its opening price of Rs 15,600. Similarly, the price of silver is dropped by Rs 4.50 on the last day of trading to Rs 290 per 10 gram from the opening price of Rs 294.50 on Sunday. — HNS

NCC holds interaction

KATHMANDU: A visiting Sri lankan journalists’ team held discussion on ‘Role of private sector in peace process,’ with the Nepali entrepreneurs at an interaction programme at Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC) on Friday. The visiting team praised the role of Nepali private sector during the peace process and hoped that Sri lanka could learn from Nepal’s experience. — HNS

Merrill suffers losses

NEW YORK: The investment bank Merrill Lynch emerged as one of the worst-hit victims from the summer’s credit meltdown as it revealed losses of $5.5 billion on mortgages and bad loans would push it into the red for the first time in six years. In a profit warning, Merrill disclosed that it expected to make a loss of 50 cents a share for the three months. — The Guardian
