UTL’s new offer

KATHMANDU: United Telecom Ltd (UTL) has once again announced the second round of Monsoon Offer. Under this offer, one can buy UTL’s HHT phone connection and a set with a limited mobility for Rs 2,000. The offer that was unveiled on Wednesday will last till July 8, states a company press release issued here today. A connection availed under this scheme can choose one UTL number and make calls at free of cost. — HNS

Nepal,Croatia eye to build ties

KATHMANDU: Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of FNCCI, along with other office bearers held a meeting with Dino Debeljuh, ambassador of Croatia to Nepal and discussed about expanding trade, economic and investment ties between Nepal and Croatia. In a press release issued by FNCCI, Dhakal sought he-lp of diplomatic mission in attracting Croatian investment in Nepal. Stating that Croatia as a leading tourist destination in Europe, ambassador Debeljuh asked Nepali entrepreneurs to explore the Croatian markets for exporting goods of tourist interest. — HNS

Inflation slows in Philippines

MANILA: Philippine consumer prices rose at a slower pace of 2.3 per cent in June compared to 2.4 per cent in May, the government said on Thursday, easing pressure on the central bank to tighten monetary policy. Lower inflation rates were recorded for food, beverages and tobacco, the largest component in the consumer price index basket, leading to the more favourable June figure. The central bank had earlier forecast an inflation range of 2.2-2.9 per cent for the month. For the first half of 2007, inflation averaged 2.6 per cent. — AFP
