Nod for Ambani’s SEZ
NEW DELHI: Two big special economic zones (SEZ) proposed by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, India’s largest private company, secured approvals from a high-level panel on Tuesday after being deferred many times earlier. The group’s multi-product SEZ in Gurgaon on the outskirts of New Delhi secured a formal approval from the Board of Approval chaired by Commerce Secretary G K Pillai, while another at Rewas in Maharashtra won an in-principle nod. The approval comes in the wake of many similar SEZ proposals facing fierce popular opposition. — AP
