Brand watch: New year bonanza for wine buffs

KATHMANDU: Are you a wine lover? If yes, your New Year this time is going to be fabulous because Mark Davidson is bringing vintage wines on April 14. “We are planning to give a tasty gift to the Nepali people,” said Mark Davidson, general manager and brand maker.

Mark Davidson wines are popular in Nepal. Two brands — Mark Davidson and Miracle Mile — are the largest selling wines in Nepali market. Mark Davidson wines are popular among businessmen and diplomatic missions and Miracle Mile is the choice of average wine buffs.

“Miracle Mile goes very well with spicy food. Therefore, it is popular among Nepalis people,” said Mark Davidson.

“We are going to introduce Shiraz 2006, Chardonnay 2007, Merlot Cabernet 2007 and Riesling 2008 on New Year Eve,” said Arjun Bhandari of Ray Global Trading (RGT). RGT has been importing and distributing Mark Davidson brand of wine since 2007. It sold nearly 82,000 bottles of Mark Davidson and Miracle Mile last year.
