Bricks worth Rs 40m sold in Tanahun district
DAMAULI: Tanahun district sees the sales of bricks worth millions of rupees yearly.
Bal Krishna Ghimire, president of the Association of Tanahun Brick Industries, said that Pokhareli, Jamume, Tanahun, Trishul, Manakamana, Shree, Machhapuchre and another brick factory sell bricks worth around Rs 40 million every year. Of these, Machhapuchre alone produces bricks worth Rs 10 million. These factories have customers in as far as Baglung, Pokhara and Lamjung districts, he said.
According to the association, nearly 2,100 workers are in temporary jobs in the brick kilns. Last year, heavy rainfall damaged ready-for-sale bricks, causing a loss of Rs 10,00,000.
Meanwhile, the Tanahun district traffic police made Rs 516,000 revenue collection in the first four months of the current fiscal year. District traffic police in-charge Lok Bandhu Sharma said the revenue was collected from 5,708 light and heavy vehicles which were booked for violating traffic rules. The traffic office has set a target of Rs 950,000 revenue collection till the end of the current fiscal year.
