Kathmandu, July 26:

Export Council of Nepal (ECON) issuing a press statement today has clearly stated that the

ordinance budget for fiscal year 2005-06 has not introduced any special package to boost

the export sector despite it being beset with various hurdles in recent years. The press statement has said that giving discretionary power to tax officials would ultimately hit the export sector’s growth which is aimed at boosting VAT administration. There is a lack of long-term policies in the budget to boost the export sector, the press statement said.
