Good income

ILAM: Farmers in Laxmipur VDC in Ilam district have earned over Rs 10 million after selling vegetables grown during off-seasons in a year. They have been growing vegetables by forming farmers’ groups and cooperatives. Local Dhan Bahadur Rai said they are exporting vegetables to Jhapa and Morang districts and even to Indian markets. Rai said he earned Rs 70,000 in a year after selling chillies.

Training

MORANG: Training for off-season vegetable cultivation for women from the Dalit community who are economically not well-off has begun at Sijuwa VDC here. The training is organized by the Project for Rehabilitation of Conflict-hit Children, Families and Communities. Fifteen women and five men are attending the training organized by Bal Samaj Nepal and the District Agricultural Development Office, Morang, with the support from BNMT and the European Union.
