Sanima, NLIC’s deal
KATHMANDU: Sanima Bikas Bank Ltd (Sanima) and Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd (NLIC) have signed an agreement to promote savings for children through Child Life Insurance. According to the agreement, the child life insurance policies offered by NLIC will be incorporated into Sanima Muna Bachat Khata. Sanima will be providing financial advice to the account holders’ parents/guardians about planned savings and investment options for the children. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sanima Kumar Lamsal and NLIC’s CEO Manoj Kumar Bhattarai signed the agreement.
Everest Ghar-Dailo
KATHMANDU: Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) has launched Everest Ghar-Dailo Banking Sewa to provide banking facilities to large and well spread out sections of the remote village, throughout Nepal, in different 13 locations of Jhapa and Ilam districts through its branch in Birtamod on Sunday. This new product is a revolution in the banking history of Nepal and is a new breakthrough in terms of banking technology. The uniqueness in the technology lies in the fact that even illiterate people can operate their account through thumb impression, EBL said in a statement issued here on Monday. The machine reads accounts through biometric data stored during account opening. Thus, the operation of the account is safe and secure, it said, adding that the service is ‘branchless banking’ through point of transaction (POT) machine by using smart cards.
Prudential’s bonus
KATHMANDU: Prudential Finance Ltd — during its sixth Annual
General Meeting (AGM) on Monday in Kathmandu — decided to distribute the 10.52 per cent bonus shares to the shareholders. In the fiscal year 2008-09, the company was able to collect deposit worth Rs 690 million and had earned net profit worth Rs 14.7 million. In the same ceremony, Bhuwan Dev Pant, Rajaram Baniya Chhetri, Aindra Raj Silwal and Bijay Dev Pant were elected as members
of the board of director. Prudential
