Cabinet endorses white paper on Nepal's national economy
KATHMANDU: The Cabinet, on Tuesday evening, endorsed a white paper on economic condition of the country, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, in the wake of devastating earthquake and blockade at Nepal-India border.
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel is preparing to make the white paper public amid a press meet at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Darbar premises at 7:30 pm.
It is believed that the white paper includes the impacts of ongoing agitation in Tarai-Madhes region and blockade at Nepal-India border as well as the devastating April 25 earthquake on Nepal's national economy.
Nepali private sector has claimed that the country's industrial sector alone has suffered a loss of over Rs 7 billion every day due to the ongoing crisis in the Tarai-Madhes region following the promulgation of new Constitution on September 20.
Meanwhile, leaders of Nepali private sector met Finance Minister Paudel at his office todady and urged him to declare an economic emergency in the country. They jointly offered the government some suggestions to reinvigorate the economy from the present crisis.
