CAN Infotech 2009 gala kicks off

Kathmandu, January 14:

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated the 15th edition of the ICT gala - CAN InfoTech 2009 - here today at Bhrikuti Mandap.

Assuring of government support, the PM said, “The government is ready to provide necessary support for information technology (IT) revolution.” He added that moving ahead unitedly would enable the development of the IT sector.

“The CAN InfoTech this year has showcased the latest technology developed in the field of computer hardware, software, internet services and mobile telephony,” said Amrit Bahadur Thapa, first vice-president of Computer Association of Nepal (CAN).

The six-day long exhibition has 223 stalls with 120 companies displaying their latest products like laptops, desktop computers, LCD monitors, iPods, mobile phones, pen-drives, hoppers and various other products. Different multinational companies from India, China, the US, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Malaysia are participating in the event that is supported by Logitech, Samsung, HP, Diabold, Digicom, Toshiba, Ricoh, Ausus, Lenevo, Gigabyte, Hymex, Zenith PC, Denyo, Sharp, HCL, TVS, Matrix, Beetle, LG, IBM, Apple, APC, Mita, Microsoft, ACER, Sukam and NEC.

CAN said that it has also planned on holding ICT conferences during the exhibition.
