China to provide Rs 15.7bn assistance

Kathmandu, December 29

China has agreed to provide grant assistance of Rs 15.7 billion (one billion yuan) to Nepal for the implementation of three key infrastructure projects.

The financial support will be used for the repair and improvement of Syaphrubesi-Rasuwagadhi Highway; upgradation and renovation of Civil Service Hospital, and other post-disaster reconstruction projects as agreed upon between the two sides earlier.

The Embassy of Nepal in China has said in a statement that the projects aim to improve the connectivity with China, enhance health care services and also improve lives of quake-affected people through rehabilitation and reconstruction of socio-economic infrastructure damaged by the April 25, 2015 earthquake.

The pact was signed and exchanged by Ambassador of Nepal to China Leela Mani Paudyal and Chinese Vice Minister of Ministry of Commerce Zhang Xiangchen in Beijing.
