Coffee farming gets popular

Waling, July 12:

Dandaswara Coffee State Cooperatives Ltd and Highland Coffee Promotion Co Ltd are drawing the farmers’ community to coffee farming on over 800 ropanis of fallow land in Dandaswara of Bahakot VDC in Syangja.

The companies said they plan to plant over 5,000 coffee plants in the area within the next three years. In the first year, coffee plants would be planted on 60 ropanis of land, said Antar Narayan Marasini of Highland Coffee.

They are working on an ambitious plan to develop Syangja as a centre of coffee production. They said they would expand the coffee plantation to over 1,700 ropanis of land within a few years.
