TOKYO : The dollar fell below 87 yen in Tokyo trade Thursday to its lowest level since July 1995.

The greenback briefly dipped to a low of 86.51 yen at 0330 GMT after closing in New York the previous day at 87.38.

The unit has been hit as positive US economic data Wednesday raised risk appetite for other investments, and on expectations that the US Federal Reserve will keep interest rates super-low for an extended period.
